The Lure of the Dragons Lake Lure Boat Race is a
relatively new event on the lake, but one that will
probably be around for many years to come. Teams of
rowers compete in Chinese boat races to support
local children’s charities, leaving from the Lake
Lure town park. During this time of year, the
landscapes and scenery around the lake are in full
bloom creating a scenic backdrop for the race. In
addition to the race, the Lure of the Dragons
festival also brings music, food and dancing
exhibits on Asian American cultures.
Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad Sports Festival – Lake
Lure Fishing Tournament
The Olympiad Sports Festival celebrates many of
the popular outdoor activities that you can enjoy
in Lake Lure and brings people together to
celebrate fitness and charities in the area. As part
of the festival, participants compete in a variety
of different sports, and the town hosts a Lake Lure
Fly Fishing Tournament.
 Blue Ridge BBQ Festival in Tryon
Tryon North Carolina is located very close to
scenic Lake Lure and is a beautiful place in its own
right. Known for its horse farms and gorgeous
Western North Carolina Real Estate properties, Tryon

hosts the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival the second
weekend in June. Taking place at Harmon Field, the
